Action Films
Action is a very successful genre as it has a very wide audience of which are mostly young aged males, this is due to the main character (hero in this case) being a strong, brave male figure/idol in which they can look up to or believe themselves to be, for example Bruce Willis in the 'Die Hard' films.
However sometimes they can alternate and have a female lead character like in the tomb raider films.
Action films always have to have stunts, fights and explosions in them, if not they aren't going to be very successful, after all that is one of the main assets of an action film, the special effects. Action films normally all have the same plot, which is that the hero gets attacked by a villain, normally beaten then the hero has to overcome some challenge to then defeat the villain, gaining some sort of reward whether it be the love of a female or the feeling of justice with it normally being the first one of the two.
The obstacles in which they have to overcome are normally physical challenges in which probably involve having to fight some henchmen and then escaping from the area with some other sort of leach on him whether it being an injury or a condition of the area (collapsing building maybe...)
The majority of action films are very high budget and have the use of well known actors from the genre to advertise it as a good action film, the trailers often seem short but packed with explosions, stunts or fighting scenes rather than actually showing any of the story.
The films always seem to be less than realistic with the fact that the hero can kill multiple henchmen and not even get a phone call from the police and that they often get shot and survive when the henchmen can get shot as well and be not as lucky as them.
