(Research) Age Certificates - Film Classification

Age Certificates
Films have Age ratings/Certificates based upon the films content, normally on its violence, offensive language and sexual content. There are 6 Film Ratings.

Suitable for All Audiences
Contains no content that can upset/disturb the viewer, a generally calm film with minimal inappropriate content.
Parental Guidance
Generally calm, but might contain content that could disturb a viewer, mainly very young children.
Suitable for 12 years and older
This contains slightly inappropriate content, but not to huge extents. A 12A film is where a child under 12 can view the film, but when accompanied/supervised by an adult, whereas the 12 is where they have to be 12 or older.
Suitable for 15 years or older
A 15 rated film contains inappropriate content throughout the film, but nothing to extreme. These films normally contain curses throughout the film, but through a comical matter. These films can be viewed by people ages of 15 or older.
Suitable only for adults
These films normally contain nudity, swearing and violent/Gorey scenes. Suitable only for adults (Ages of 18 and older)
R-Rated
These films contain extremely explicit content, such as highly graphic sexual scenes, these are only allowed to be displayed/sold in a licensed shop. Again, this is for ages 18 and older.
