Evaluation | Comparison to Real Media Product EA 1

I have picked 9 frames from my production and I am going to use them to compare my opening sequence to one of a real media product, whether they conform to the typical film opening or differentiate.

Frame 1 - Camerawork and Editing.
The frame displays a clip of the motorway behind the B&Q by my house, the velocity (speed) of the clip is sped up. In the film Juice they use a clip very similar to this however the angle is higher than mine.

Frame 2 - Title font and Style.
The style of the font is in an urban graffiti style. Complimenting the music playing as well as exposing the genre of the film. The text is large and is white on black, making it easy to read for the viewer.

Frame 3 - Setting/Location.
The frame displays the lighting of a block of flats. The flats are used to give the urban, highly populated setting to the film, allowing the viewer to know that the story is going to be influenced from the stereotypes and lifestyles of those that come from these surroundings.

Frame 4 - The title of the film.
The films title contains the same font as the other titles however it is displayed over the video, the book being visible in the background being the guidelines of the title "Paper Thoughts".

Frame 5 - Costumes and Props.
Within the scene the frame is from, a pouch/packet of rolling tobacco and a book are centered within the camera shot. The character (Kieron - Max) picks up the tobacco and pockets it, showing that is has no actual importance but it as apart of him, apart of his character. The book is picked up and checked to make sure nothing is wrong with it, showing the books importance to the character. He is dressed in casual clothing that would stereotype towards teenagers (wristbands, t-shirts and jeans). The bag he puts the book in is a "Marvel Comics" one, indicating he is still young.

Frame 6 - Genre and how it is indicated.
This frame shows two pairs of shoes. Being high-top sneakers which are highly associated with the urban lifestyle and of those of urban musicians (Hip-Hop Artists and Rappers). The music playing is a Rap song which highly points towards the genre. The Establishing Shots and Title Fonts also point towards its Urban relation.

Frame 7 - Story and how the opening sets it up.
After the Establishing shots are done it goes into Kieron waking up, packing his bag and leaving the house. No real story plot is indicated however the leaving of the house sets up the chance for anything to happen. The fact that he wakes up and immediately leaves the house shows that he has intentions to do something (Already has something planned).

Frame 8 - How characters are introduced.
Max (Played by Kieron) is shown waking up in his bed, picking up some tobacco and a book, putting it in a bag, putting his shoes on and leaving the house. Not much of Max is learnt from this other than that he smokes, is of a young age (shown by his clothing and his bag) and has has importance for his book.

Frame 9 - Story + Editing.
Frame 9 Shows the second half of the quotes which ques the film title. The text fades in and fades out in parts, it may not be easily interpreted but it is supposed to symbolize that is one of the entries in his book. The fading in and out shows it being written down. The actual writing itself mentions that it is a collection of thoughts and paper thoughts hints that it is written down.
