Actors and Props
A film needs actors and props, but they need to relate to what is happening in the film/scene. For example if the film is about young black males growing up in the hood, you are going to need a young black actor who has the appearance of someone who would come from that background, this can be helped shown through the costumes they wear. A good example of this is Tupac Shakur (The rapper 2pac/Tupac), he starred in the film "Juice", an Urban Crime Thriller. He suited the role due to his urban appearance and reputation.

The props need to suit the scene, if the scene is set inside a poverty stricken home, you are not going to have a plasma T.V in the background (unless it relates to the story). Also the props they use, if a gun is used in a film it is going to need to be realistic, they cannot use something that looks like a toy, it will be unrealistic and ruin the tension that is intended to be built.
