Audiences
Each Genre has a typical audience. Since I'm looking at Urban films, whether it be Coming of Age or Crime Dramas they both have similar, if not the same, audiences. The typical viewer of a urban film is young adult males, normally between the ages of 15 to their late twenties. Females don't normally watch this type of film, but sometimes you might get a female viewer, like in the urban coming of age film "Kidulthood" It had quite a few female fans due to the roles of the female actors in the film.
Those urban films, also known as "Hood films" get viewers with the same lifestyle as those portrayed in the film, if the film is about hoodies/gangsters, then it is most likely to get viewed by those that it portrays.
